Meet the McMUNC XII Secretariat
Artin Safaie
Secretary-General of McMUNC XII
Artin Safaie is a senior at Mclean and is ecstatic to be the Secretary General of McMUNC XII!! Artin joined the club in his freshman year and is now the only senior on upper sec, putting the UNC in McMUNC. Infamous in Mclean MUN for his love of ADHOC committees and short temper, Artin has truly brought the lion mentality out of every single member of Mclean MUN. When not posting an update to the Mclean mun schoology, he can be found at Linway Terrace Park claiming he’s the best MUN pickleballer (he’s not) or at chesterbook starbucks throwing back a pumpkin cream chai. While Artin does pour his heart into the things he loves like MUN, it seems his accomplishments may be more for his Linkedin maxing addiction than for his love of the game. While at first you may think he’s a bit intimidating, he's really just a guy that loves a sweet treat, chess.com, and ragebaiting literally anyone he can. Artin is one of the funniest people you'll meet, though he may not be cracking jokes at the end of the day because when his feet hurt from dress shoes, nothing is funny. With his quick thinking, problem solving skills, and passion for MUN, there is no doubt he will be one of the best SG’s Mclean has ever had. So if you see our lovely SG roaming the halls of Mclean, don’t be afraid to ask any questions! Just make sure when you talk to him that you don’t get in the way of his minimum of 20,000 steps for this year's conference! - L.S.
Nikitha Rajesh is a junior at Mclean and is psyched to be this years Director General!! She’s been doing MUN for almost 3 years and has done crisis, spec and GA, but if you were to ask around she’d definitely be most notorious for cooking in Crisis comms. While in committee Nikitha can act as a very comforting double del, but don’t be afraid when she goes into the unmod, because the sudden switch from chud cornball to diplomatic leader after running off of the taco bell cinnamon delights and 3 hours of sleep is enough to shock anyone. Despite her extremely airbally jokes, Nikitha is a great person to be around and is very passionate about the club, often stressing in the hotel room at nationals about her arc even though committee doesn’t start for 8 hours. To anyone that’s been in her very hightech house (with an ELEVATOR) and experienced her organization and hospitality it doesn’t come as a surprise that she will be an incredible Director General. Niki is definitely a balanced girl as outside of mun she goes from baking suspiciously yummy cookies, to working out at her gym at least 5 times a week, to being spotted at the library every 6th period (and not the AP music class down the hall.) To anyone that spots her do not be afraid to have a convo about the gym, but beware do not bring up pickleball because she’ll have to go on a rant on how she isn’t trash at it. - L.A.

Chief of StaffLila Shaw
Lila Shaw is a junior at McLean High School and is euphoric to be serving as your Chief of Staff for McMUNC XII! Joining the club in her freshman year and after a 4 gavels in her sophomore year, being in the driver seat of a conference is something Lila has become quite used to, but if she is ever in the actual driver seat of a car you are in for a world of trouble. With her role as Chief of Staff, Lila plans to use her signature calm nature and kindness to serve the conference, whilst simultaneously taking out all her frustration and rage on her fellow upper sec members. In her free time, Lila can be seen performatively reading outside (she’s probably on page two), begging to go to Coco’s, or doomscrolling while complaining about how cooked she is in her classes. Despite all of that, Lila is one of the most passionate and strongest delegates the club has ever seen, traits that will serve her and the conference well as the Chief of Staff. So whether you see her at Chesterbrook Starbucks acting like she’s doing homework while actually socializing or around the halls of McLean High figuring out how to explain to her English teacher why she was out of class for 30 minutes (stack nation), make sure to stop her and ask about a committee, the conference, or about the Hunger Games if you want to get stuck in an infinite loop of yapping
- A.S.
Saachi Thomas
Saachi Thomas is a junior at McLean High School and she is beyond ecstatic to serve as your Director of Hospitality for McMUNC XII! She is of the most devoted and committed members of the team (just ask about the million spreadsheets she made). As a seasoned SPEC-del, Saachi has had her fair share of glory in the MUN circuit. If she’s not dropping the most breathtaking mod, she’s getting the whole paper named after her solutions “she” generated hours before. Outside of MUN, she balances a plethora of APs and extracurriculars that would make Elise Pham raise an eyebrow. With her insanely packed schedule, she averages a healthy 3 (or zero) hours of sleep yet still manages to look like a model (although gets brutally height-mogged 24/7). As a studious scholar, you can always find her with her blue macbook open whilst finishing questionable Afram assignments, a Princeton review book, or drawing graphs of monopolies in Chem. Aside from being one of the smartest people in the world (do NOT let her tell you otherwise), dropping A’s after A’s so much so that her modesty becomes unfathomable and infuriating, she is also the most chaotic and kindest girl to be around. If you see this gorgeous, talented, and sweet girl in the halls, do not hesitate to spark up a conversation with her about anything. Just be sure to not mention her history with the muzz (😉) or the J.K. impersonation of CMUNCE ‘25.

Director of Hospitality
Lily Al-Qabany
Lily Alqabany is a junior at McLean and is beyond excited to serve as one of McMUNC XII’s Directors of Hospitality! Lily is an extremely well-seasoned delegate, with both GA and SPEC committees under her belt. Although Lily is extremely kind in committee, be sure not to prank call her at two in the morning, or you might get a loud earful of not-so-kind words that Lily has perfected at ILMUNC. When Lily isn’t in committee, you’ll probably find her tanning in her backyard or breaking a sweat as the girls' soccer captain. She is notorious for being quick on her feet, although her tennis skills are still a little questionable. Lily also takes the cake as the most hospitable member of McMUN and has proven herself by inviting the ENTIRE starving team to her family’s iftar party on incredibly short notice. Long story short, you could call Lily the master of hosting functions (some more successful than others). If you ever catch Lily on the road, she’s most likely not in her car, and on her devilish scooter instead. Lily truly has the heart of a golden retriever and will ALWAYS bring the mood up, so feel free to have a conversation with her about anything from Dubai chocolate to soccer because she definitely has some kind of random story to tell. Whatever you do, just never ask to take a ride on her scooter - N.R.
Director of hospitality
Introducing the ONE AND ONLY multi-talented, insanely ambitious, and (don’t tell him I said this) incredibly funny Jacob Xu! Jacob is a junior at McLean, and he is JUBILANT to serve as one of this year’s Directors of Technology for McMUNC XII. His dedication to this conference is beyond evident, from the care he has poured into both the behind-the-scenes operations and every person involved in making this weekend happen. In his MUN career, Jacob has crushed both GA and Spec committees—whether it be delivering perfectly timed comments (or roasts) in unmods or finding ways to (not so) slickly take control in every situation (shh, don’t let the chair see the paper-grab), his skills in and out of the conferences are truly unmatched. On a different day, you might catch him at one of his many cello practices, doomscrolling on redfin, or working on his insane art masterpieces; if you’ve ever walked through the Dulles International Airport, you’ve probably already seen his face hung up on the wall (yes, he painted that, too). It’s definitely safe to say that he brings equal amounts of competence and comedic relief to every room. For anyone who’s had the chance to experience Jacob’s incredible organization, creativity, and adaptability (even through DQ threats), it should come as no surprise that he is the best DoT this conference could’ve ever asked for… just don’t let him hear of your LinkedIn profile unless you’re prepared to be promptly, and thoroughly, stalked... after all, he knows his way around tech. - S.T.

Director of TechnologyJulius Li
Uh yeah so there’s this guy named Julius Li, apparently he’s going to be one of yall’s Directors of Technology for MCMUNC XII. He’s going to be a junior next year, and is “leaping with jumps of joy” at the prospect of being part of this conference. On a real note, he is incredibly thrilled to be part of Mclean Secretariat, and possesses experience in GA and only GA. Whereas his fellow Director of Technology Jacob or I love to experiment with GA, SPEC, and Crisis, Julius is a GA lifer and vows to never switch comm types. He is quite good at what he does, and has a way with words few can match during an unmod or Q/A. When he’s not complaining about power dels or being one, Julius is either ranting about Chelsea FC or is being involved within the enthralling fields of Mock Trial and Journalism, (PS, please stop interviewing me). Fun fact about him, he gets all of his interests from his older brother, whether it be Mock Trial, Journalism, or even serving as Director of Technology for this conference. In all seriousness, his intelligence, craftsmanship when it comes to props, and wit is something that I can honestly say I haven’t seen in anyone else, and when the chips are down, there’s no one I’d rather be partners with or serving on Mclean Secretariat with than Julius Li. - N.K
Isabel Li, a junior at McLean High School, is thrilled to be your Director of Crisis! Despite her position, she actually splits her time in Model UN equally between GA, spec, and crisis (all of which she plans in hotel rooms, running through speeches almost as fast as the ramen she packed instead of clothes). As a former top delegate at Longfellow, she’s been doing MUN since 7th grade, making her experience and commitment unmatched. Outside of MUN, Isabel survives a schedule packed with AP classes by occasionally “giving up” on tests, speed-running MCQs with 70% of her time to spare, and still walking away with a 100 (and STILL remains unreasonably humble about it). If you’ve done 5 questions, she’s already filled the scantron. Additionally, Isabel is a key player on the girls’ JV Volleyball team as a setter, so you would think she’s tall, but height is subjective of course (although she tries to compensate with her 4-inch platform Uggs). Jokes(?) aside, Isabel is one of the sweetest, most dedicated, and effortlessly funny people you’ll meet. Her sarcasm, love for TV shows (yes, even mid-class), and ability to handle chaos make her perfect for running crisis. If you see her in the hall, feel free to say hi (just don’t bring up the 5-piece chicken nugget, it’s a sensitive topic). She claims she “does well with children,” so freshmen and middle schoolers, feel free to verify. And no, she is not related to the other Li. - J.X.
Director of CrisisIsabel Li
Director of CrisisNubaid Khan
Nubaid Khan is a (super) senior at McLean High and is thrilled to be serving as your Director of Crisis. Despite sharing the same last name with gohar khan and khan academy’s founder, Nubaid is more majestic and talented than both of them. If you’ve ever seen Nubaid aimlessly wandering around the hallways before awards, you’ll probably notice his $500 “Nike” dress shoes (i don’t even know if these are real, can’t find them online) or his 12 sets of three piece suits. You’d think he’d spend this money on a haircut. As a distinguished gentleman in the year 2026, it takes Nubaid great courage to rebel to traditional masculine expectations, to listen to brazilian phonk edits or playing clash during award ceremonies. Nubaid has done a lot of committees in his high school career; first crisis, but then he decided he's not good at that; then spec, which he also realized he's not good at, and now he is crushing it in GA. If you ever get the profound, and I mean profound honor to partner with Nubaid, he will write the position paper (both topics) for you in 15 minutes at the cost of a few gallons of water. In his better days, Nubaid is also an academic weapon. If you even mention you’re not in calc in sophomore year, get ready for a 30 minute unmod on why he's smarter than you. His dedication to MUN is also unmatched, he even had to quit FBLA sophomore year (those who know). If you ever see nubaid aimlessly wandering the hallways again at McMUNC, don’t be afraid to approach him. Just don’t be getting any fashion advice from him.
