1979 Iranian Revolution

The Iranian Revolution transformed Iran from a monarchy under Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi into an Islamic Republic under Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. The revolution dramatically reshaped Middle Eastern politics and fundamentally altered Iran's relationship with much of the international community.
